BAHIA CORINTHIAN YACHT CLUB ANNOUNCES 2010 OPENING DAY
BCYC's 'Tradition' Renews on May 8th 2010 Opening Day Ceremonies
NEWPORT BEACH, CALIF. – April 29, 2010 –NEWPORT BEACH, CALIF. – APRIL 29, 2010 – Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club (BCYC) carries on the tradition of renewal at its 2010 Opening Day ceremony on May 8, 2010 to officially 'kick off' the Club's activities, recognizes guests and officers, and highlights 2009 accomplishments.
The Opening Day ceremony beings at 2:00 p.m. at BCYC, with the presentation of Colors raised by Troop 90 from the Newport Beach Sea Base Boy Scouts, a rousing Star Spangled Banner, flag salute and single cannon shot. A Newport Beach Harbor Patrol fireboat signals the transition of Jr. Staff Commodore Mike Dwight's remarks and a cannon's single shot introduces BCYC's 2010 Commodore, Donald Bernard.
The ongoing fanfare, introductions, and announcements Club officers acknowledge significant honored guests, including the Board of Directors introductions of the Junior Staff Commodore and Junior Officers and Board of Directors, Junior Program Director, and Junior Advisor.In honor of members who departed this past year, Rear Commodore Tom Rasulo tolls eight bells. Vice Commodore Ted O'Connor introduces honored guests with a special introduction of the Las Commodoras President Judy Kane and Las Commodoras Board. In addition, special thanks and recognition will be made to invited U.S. Marines from First Marine Special Operations Battalion.
With final formalities the Club Burgee is raised, three cannons fire, and BCYC is officially open for the 2010 Boating Season. With the day's "Caribbean" theme, all boats on BCYC docks will host festive music, refreshments, and a lively celebration of the new year's Club opening.
